Concept and Design
Planning your project can sometimes be more difficult than actually constructing it. In project planning and design it often helps to have at hand an understanding of building and materials. If your project requires an architect that will be an excellent source for the knowledge you might need. When an architect is not required or practical, then the General Building Contractor is the perfect solution, and for a variety of reasons. My knowledge of the necessary construction processes will help you see ideas and understand certain criteria before they become more than a concept, saving a great deal of time and money. But the creativity of knowing how materials work together, of craftsmanship and of the phases of construction are also very key ways that I can help you design and plan your project.

Drafting and Plans Preparation
If your project requires an architect and if you have the budget for one, then you will of course receive a complete set of plans. However, when a project is not tremendously extensive or the budget does not allow for an architect, then I will be able to provide you a complete set of plans. These plans are drafted to scale. They may include sitemap, floor plans, elevations, and the necessary details for premiting and construction.

Permit Issuance
Some projects will require a permit from your local building department. The permit is issued based upon the extent and type of project. Not all permits require plans submittal, but they all require certain documentation, fees and inspection, and of course, your or my time to visit the department to meet with city staff. As your representative, I have the knowledge, understanding, and your best interest in focus as I work to obtain the necessary project permits. Of course, as your lead builder I will also have the responsibility of ensuring that your project is built correctly according to all local building codes, making certain that it passes city inspection and of course your inspection.

General Building Contractor
By definition, 'general' means 'involving or relating to, or application to every member of a class, kind or group'. In this case, building and contracting. As your General Building Contractor I can take your building or contracting project from conception to completion. This includes all of the services listed above, but so much more as described below. In most instances, I will personally build with my own hands each component of the construction project where two or more trades are required.

In cases where projects are very large or where you have certain skilled and licensed subcontractors you wish to use, I can provide oversight and management of the work of them. I can supplement that project management with my work in framing. Project management of many subcontractors and vendors can be daunting, but I work as your personal and professional representative to ensure schedules of labor, materials, tasks, scope, and budget are met and reported.

Specific Trade Skills
As a General Building Contractor I am licensed to perform two or more trades on a project, plus framing and carpentry. Many projects require multiple trade skills. What this means for you is essentially a one-stop source for skilled and professional building and contracting work! The following trades and skills are those which I am experienced at performing:

Insulation and Acoustical; Boiler, Hot-Water Heating; Framing and Rough Carpentry; Cabinet, Millwork and Finish Carpentry; Low Voltage Systems; Concrete; Drywall; Electrical; Earthwork and Paving; Fencing; Flooring and Floor Covering; Glazing; Warm-Air Heating, Ventilating, Air-Conditioning, and Solar Energy; Landscaping; Masonry; Parking and Highway Improvement; Plumbing; Roofing; Sign; Solar; Reinforcing Steel; Swimming Pool; Welding; and, a host of limited specialties.
